Is the system secure?

  • Yes – files are transmitted to the court in secure XML (extensible markup language) envelopes. These envelopes are encrypted and may only be un-encrypted by the intended recipient.
  • Additionally eFilingPortal uses secure transport protocols (HTTPS), encryption and verified security certificates to ensure the highest security for your data.

What are the benefits of electronic filing?

  • Increased convenience, electronically file from any location with access to the Internet at any time day or night
  • Extend your deadline – often the court will accept your filing until 11:59 p.m. on the day of required filing.
  • Know immediately that your filing was accepted by the court, receive an immediate notice of electronic filing (NEF)
  • Cost savings, often the costs of an electronic filing are less than using a courier or attorney service to deliver your filing.

What fees are associated with electronic filing?

  • Fees are different depending on the type of filing you process. They range from zero cost items up to several hundred dollars depending on the complexity and the filing type.
  • We recommend that you provide a credit card number along with ALL filings regardless if there is a fee involved or not. In some cases an additional form or an adjustment is required; if your billing information is on file the court will not reject your filing.

What hardware and software is required for me to process an electronic filing?

  • Your will need a computer with Internet access.
  • Updated Web Browser (such as Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or newer, Mozilla, Netscape Navigator, FireFox etc.) If you need a web browser or an update you may download Firefox for the PC platform from the following location free of charge.
  • Current release of Adobe Flash – Available free from the Adobe website by clicking here.
  • Current release of Adobe Acrobat Reader – Available free from the Adobe website by clicking here.
  • Microsoft Word (2003) or Later Releases of Microsoft Word and Office

What document types are currently accepted for eFiling by the court?

  • Documents accepted for eFiling can be accessed via our website after purchasing a yearly subscription. A yearly subscription includes access to FLSSI Probate Forms, FLSSI Guardianship Forms, Local Broward County Forms, XML Smart eForms. In addition, a toolbar add-on is available to provide the convenience of auto-filling forms by saving profiles and searching for forms within Microsoft Word.
